Morag has over 20 years’ experience in financial services in audit, project and banking roles where she has worked with a broad range of clients and sectors and held senior lending and management positions in Business and Corporate banking within major UK Banks.

Her work has included loan origination, client and credit management; leading and implementing strategic objectives; designing and delivering business plans and coordinating operational risk. Throughout her career she has worked in and managed project teams varying from sales and acquisitions, restructuring and change management programmes to improvement in processes and working practices.

Property is one area where she has particular expertise after joining Bank of Ireland in 2006 to help grow their real estate lending book. The sector experienced high growth followed by rapid deterioration during the financial crisis and Morag was involved in intensive management of clients throughout the country. In 2013, she joined the restructuring division working directly with the GB Head to oversee reduction in a large portfolio of distressed lending, while managing risk and controlling losses. She worked on developing the strategy, designing the annual business plan and creating financial models to monitor and forecast against targets.

She has a structured approach and undertakes detailed analysis, research and risk assessment to create business cases to allow clients to make informed decisions. After working through the full economic cycle and seeing good and bad practices, she is able to identify and analyse key drivers and core risks quickly and design a plan to set and meet their targets. Morag builds strong relationships with clients and network of professionals and works collaboratively to implement the plan.

Her other work includes voluntary roles as a Trustee of a Multi-Academy Trust, Business Wales mentor and passenger panel member for Transport for Wales.

  • Her primary skills are:
  • Building business cases and financial models
  • Business planning
  • Financial and cashflow management
  • Project management (PRINCE2 practitioner) to implement
  • Identifying funding requirement and assisting in obtaining finance
  • Risk assessment, control setting and testing
